Campus as haven

Stephen last fall when we talked for the “Staying Stephen” story for Charlotte magazine: “I’m not sure what classifies a celebrity. I’m probably a local celebrity more than a national celebrity. But that’s why I like Davidson so much -- I’m pretty sure if I was at a state school, or somewhere bigger, it might be like that. But here you know who is real and who is not. It’s kind of difficult now to meet someone somewhere outside of here to determine what their motives are. At Davidson I see ’em enough to know what the people here are about.”
